Southwest Florida International Airport, also known as Fort Myers Airport, is located just outside Fort Myers in Southwest Florida, USA.

There are several options available to transfer to or from the airport, depending on where in the area you are going to or traveling from. On this page we cover options of transfer to or from Fort Myers.

Transfers at Southwest Florida Airport

Rental Cars – The on-site rental car companies that are available at the airport can be found in the rental car facility situated on the ground floor of the Short-term Parking Garage located right across from the terminal building and the Baggage Claim area. Their vehicles are also located there. To return a vehicle to a car rental company that is on-site, please follow the signs for Rental Car Return as you are approaching the terminal. Off-site car rental companies are also available through a shuttle service. Shuttle pickup point is located on the east end of the parking garage’s lower level, around the side. A courtesy shuttle phone is located in the shelter. When returning a vehicle to an off-site car rental company, please follow the instructions given.

Buses – LeeTran Route 50 serves the airport and Fort Myers with daily departures going in both directions from morning to evening on weekdays and Saturdays and from later morning to afternoon on Sundays. Tickets are purchased in exact change on the bus. A single adult journey is $1.50 while children under the height of 42 inches/106 cm travel for free.

Taxis – On-demand taxi cabs are provided by MBA Airport Transportation at the taxi rank outside the arrivals area of the terminal building. The rates from the airport are based on zones and not meters according to regulations set by Lee County Port Authority. The journey from the airport to central Fort Myers takes around 15-20 minutes and will cost approximately $25-$30. Rates to the airport do not fall under the same system. Hotel Shuttles – Some hotels offer their guests the service of airport shuttle pick-up or drop off, sometimes complementary and sometimes for an additional charge. Pick-ups take place in the ground transportation area on arrivals level. Shuttles are arranged by the traveler through the hotel of choice. Need to book a hotel? RideShares – Ride Share companies may collect customers at the airport if they have been permitted by LCPA, Lee County Port Authority, to do so. Transfers are arranged by the traveler through the RideShare company’s app or website.

Shuttles and Limousines – Privately arranged shuttles and limousines often come with a meet and greet service where drivers will collect travelers from the Baggage Claim upon their arrival. These are privately arranged by the traveler.

Trains – The airport doesn’t have a train station. The closest train station is in Fort Myers with more than 40 departures to a variety of destinations each day. It is most easily reached through taxi or a private vehicle. To transfer using public transportation is possible, but will require several transfers and it will take at least 90 minutes.
